plot

Spaccapietre, a film directed by Gianluca and Massimiliano de Serio, is set in Southern Italy, where under the hot summer sun the laborers are exploited without hesitation. Among them is Angela, who works in the fields, throwing sweat and blood on the ground, until one day she never returns home. The tragic death of the woman throws her husband Giuseppe (Salvatore Esposito) and her little son Antò into despair, to whom his father justified the sudden death of her mother by promising him a return of the woman from the Kingdom of the dead. To keep their promise, Giuseppe and the baby set out in search of Angela, but what they really need to find is the truth about the woman's death.
