Filming Italy LosAngeles 2023
Salvatore Esposito returns to Hollywood at the stroke of his first ten years of career. Time for balance sheets, but without nostalgia. Because if the past is “a great miracle” – he says thinking of when he set foot on the set of ‘Gomorrah’ 10 years ago – the future is full of projects on both sides of the ocean.
The ex-boss with a boyish look and imposing physique is a guest at the eighth edition of Filming Italy – Los Angeles, the Italian film festival directed by producer Tiziana Rocca, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles. Salvatore Esposito is comfortable in Hollywood. After the overseas debut in the fourth season of the Coen brothers’ ‘Fargo’. In the seven months spent “in the beautiful and very cold Chicago”, Esposito wrote his first mystery novel: “‘The Shaman’ was born as a film subject, but the publisher Sperling & Kupfer thought it could become a full-fledged novel.
They look at you with disdain when you are an actor and move on to writing”. Instead the book did well, so much so that ‘Blood Eclipse. A new investigation of the shaman’ has just come out. Early next year instead, I’m preparing my directorial debut,” he reveals, crossing his fingers and without revealing details. In the meantime, one thing is certain: shooting will begin in September on the series inspired by “Piedone”, the famous police commissioner Rizzo played by Bud Spencer in the 1970s. Esposito will not only be the protagonist, but also co-author of the series, set in the present day.
