
Piedone: the new series
Sky has officially announced the production of Piedone, a new Sky Original series starring the actor Salvatore Esposito in the role of a police inspector, the spiritual heir of Commissioner Rizzo made immortal by Bud Spencer with the now legendary Piedone Lo Sbirro from 1973.
The project will consist of 4 episodes and will be produced by Sky Studios, Wildside, a company of the Fremantle group and Titanus Production, a company of the Titanus group, created and written by Peppe Fiore (Lovely Boy, The King). The direction was entrusted to Alessio Maria Federici ((Im)perfetti Criminali, Generation 56K). The authors of the subject of the series are Salvatore Esposito, Giuseppe Pedersoli, Peppe Fiore, Laura Grimaldi, Paolo Piccirillo and Jacopo Sonnino.
The synopsis of the new series, soon available on Sky and streaming on NOW, is as follows: Inspector Vincenzo Palmieri returns to Naples after several years to settle accounts with the past. Palmieri is a policeman who doesn’t like weapons, a pupil of the popular Commissioner Rizzo known as Piedone. He will have to win the trust of his new team and demonstrate that his unconventional methods are not a problem but, on the contrary, are the best weapon to solve cases. For Vincenzo, returning to his hometown, a different Naples that still preserves his soul, means closing a circle: between one investigation and another, in which there will be twists and smiles, he will try to reunite with the past and to make peace with their ghosts and with their hometown.
